Popular Zugerberg leisure oasis
On 5 June, Zugerbergbahn AG (ZBB) presented the figures for the 2019 financial year at its Annual General Meeting. The Zugerberg recreational area continues to enjoy unbroken popularity. In 2019, four per cent more passengers were transported than in the previous year.
The 114th Annual General Meeting was held on a small scale. Due to the coronavirus situation and in order to protect shareholders, partners and guests, the Annual General Meeting was kept to the minimum required by law. ZBB shareholders were able to exercise their rights through the independent proxy, Mr Jost Windlin, a lawyer from Zug.
Successful financial year 2019
The Zugerberg Railway can look back on a pleasing 2019 financial year. 337,776 passengers were transported, which corresponds to 14,087 more passengers than in the previous year or a pleasing increase of four per cent. The excellent snow conditions in January and February 2019 contributed to this, with the toboggan run operating on a total of 29 days. However, the winter also left its mark on the route, so that some renovation measures were brought forward after the snow melted.
In 2019, the popular Zugiblubbi adventure trail was visited by around 3,000 children and celebrated its second birthday in September. The bike trail is also very popular, with a further increase in the number of visitors compared to the previous year. In addition to the people of Zug, more and more guests from all over Switzerland and neighbouring countries are using it, especially in the off-season.
Back on the road with the usual timetable since 6 June 2020
The Zugerberg is not only popular with families and sports enthusiasts, but also with those seeking relaxation and hikers. Since 6 June 2020, the Zugerberg Railway has been operating with its usual timetable again, after a restricted operation since March due to the coronavirus situation. Passengers already returned on the first weekend and, despite the rainy weather, used the Zugerberg Railway to enjoy their local mountain again.
