Trail of lights on the Zugerberg
02.12.2021 | What started as a team idea last winter has already successfully established itself: The Trail of Lights on the Zugerberg. The candles will be lit for the first time this year on 4 December 2021.
A beautiful snowy landscape, plenty of fresh air, candlelight and peace and quiet. These ingredients gave the Zugerberg Railway team the idea of creating a trail of lights on the Zugerberg in winter 2020. With a lot of drive and personal commitment, a wonderful Advent trail was created. The success proved the team right, and so the trail of lights will be organised again this year.
The candles are lit at dusk
On 4 December 2021 from 16:30, the path will be lit up for the first time when it gets dark. The route starts at the Zugerberg mountain station and leads towards the Schattwäldli adventure playground. Passing the little house with the nativity figures of the three kings, the path leads towards Hintergeissboden. Around 50 lanterns line the path. They are decorated with thoughts that inspire reflection. The trail of lights ends at a beautifully decorated nativity scene that lights up in the forest. Visitors can share their wishes and hopes in a book of lights. This is a great way to reflect on the past year and start the new year with good thoughts.
The Trail of Lights can be visited from 4 December to 6 January 2022. During this time, the Zugerberg Railway runs every quarter of an hour between 18:00 and 21:00. The Zugerberg Trail of Lights is suitable for families with children, as a romantic evening walk or as a team outing in the fresh air.
With Zugiblubbi and Samichlaus on the trail of lights
On 8 December 2021, Zugiblubbi and Father Christmas invite you to discover the Trail of Lights together. The meeting point is at the Zugerberg mountain station. There are two times available: 3.05 pm and 6.05 pm. These times are coordinated with the arrival times of the Zugerberg railway. Travelling by public transport is recommended.
The children discover the path of lights on a walk together to the crèche. A little surprise awaits them when they reach their destination. The excursion lasts around an hour and the return journey is made individually. Registration is not necessary.
