Zugerberg railway transports schoolchildren and residents
The Zugerberg Railway has been at a standstill since 18 March 2020. It is now partially resuming operations. From 18 May 2020, students of the Montana Institute and residents of the Zugerberg will be transported by train again. Tourist transport remains prohibited.
The Zugerberg Railway provides basic public transport services on the Zugerberg as part of the Zug fare network. This service has been ensured throughout with a rail replacement by bus. From 18 May 2020, the Zugerberg Railway will once again take over the access function and transport students from the Montana Institute and local residents to the Zugerberg. Tourist transport, on the other hand, will be cancelled. Hikers, bikers and families are still not allowed to be transported. The Zugerberg Railway is running a greatly reduced timetable, tailored to the needs of the Montana Institute and the residents of the Zugerberg.
Travelling safely with the Zugerberg Railway
The Zugerberg Railway is implementing the national protective measures in connection with the coronavirus crisis. The protection concept for public transport, which was drawn up by the Federal Office of Transport (FOT), SBB and PostBus and came into force on 11 May 2020, is being implemented. The Zugerberg railway is cleaned daily and the handrails and buttons are regularly disinfected. The hygiene and distancing rules will be observed and ticket sales at the ticket counter will be suspended.
